Clivet AHU and heat pumps installed al Mall Belti Moldova

The newly constructed building has two above-ground floors with underground parking, for a total surface area of 36,630 m². Built with sandwich panels, soft roof covering and double-glazed windows with solar protection and thermal break, it guarantees excellent energy performance with a transmittance coefficient of 0.2 W/m²K for the opaque parts and 1.4 W/m²K for the transparent parts, confirming a modern, efficient and sustainable construction approach.

The challenge 

From an air conditioning point of view, the main challenge was to maintain a stable and comfortable indoor climate despite the high number of people and the significant thermal loads generated by the lighting and equipment in the shopping centre. At the same time, it was necessary to ensure efficient and reliable heating and cooling for the entire building, while reducing energy consumption. The system also had to offer flexibility to adapt to the different needs of tenants and various functional areas, while ensuring minimal operating costs and maximum overall efficiency.

The challenge

The indoor comfort and energy efficiency required by the project are guaranteed by a Clivet hydronic system comprising 12 LARGE EVO heat pumps (Order No. 514883) with a total heating capacity of approximately 1,680 kW, approximately 250 ELFOSPACE BOX fan coils in various configurations — floor, ducted and cassette — and 20 AQX air handling units.

The main equipment is installed on the rear façade of the second floor, on a dedicated technical platform, and serves a centralised heating, cooling and mechanical ventilation system with air supply and return. Everything is managed by a centralised automatic control system, with the possibility of manual control from local panels located near the units.

Results

The adoption of the Clivet system has made it possible to fully meet the design challenges, ensuring a stable and comfortable indoor climate in all seasons, even in the presence of high occupancy and significant thermal loads. Thanks to the 12 LARGE EVO heat pumps, approximately 250 ELFOSPACE BOX fan coils and 20 AQX air handling units with heat recovery, the system has achieved a high level of energy efficiency, ensuring a significant reduction in consumption and operating costs.

The system, perfectly integrated into the various functional areas of the complex — commercial spaces, offices, common areas and car parks — provided a modern, reliable and sustainable engineering solution, fully compliant with European standards for low environmental impact buildings and the client's expectations in terms of quality and performance.
